When you start your child's education, it is not just about what you teach your children, but also how.
Your child needs a student-friendly environment to learn. But, at the same time, if this is the beginning of your child's education, it is better not to keep them too academic for the first few years.
When the environment is set up to induce learning, productivity and interest will come automatically. The environment should make studies fun, rather than a task. This is probably the first impression your child is having about the world of education.
Introduce globes, young novels, and science tables!
Make it more than just tolerable!
The pandemic has forced many students to leave their school and sit in the four walls of their room and attend their classes.
In times like this, the home has to resemble something related to education. Or else the kids are going to feel too homely and restful. This, in turn, will derail their potential productivity and make them lazier towards their study.
A study environment essentially allows students to have a piece of their academic life while in the comfort of their home. As a result, your child will also not feel the monotony of the isolation.
Here are some of the ways you can create a healthy environment.
Bonus: Bring equipment and materials other than the academic syllabus as well.
Needless to say, you need a good study space to familiarize your child with the activity. You can never introduce education with the station. So, get a good sturdy desk for your child today!
Your child will know the purpose of this corner if they have just started their education.
Now that you have the desk, it shouldn't look too bland. There has been a touch of academics in them as well. However, ensure that the accessories brought are attractive and they can encourage children to sit for their lessons.
Some of the items you can get are a table clock, highlighters, colored pens, sticky notes, and many more. This will help them to cut through the monotony of study sessions and learn faster.
Other than the sturdy session, your child also needs an activity area. This will help them to differentiate between study and other co-curricular activities. These include puzzles, coloring, etc.
You can have a separate desk in the same room or pick a different room. Kids will also learn healthy recreational activities with this. Decorate the area accordingly and make them look less academic.
If your child has just entered the world of education, then try to introduce certain subjects like colors, numbers, and alphabets through games. This will create a familiar environment for the child in the home itself.
This will help them get familiar with the school environment.
Whether you are trying to help your child during the pandemic, locked in the home, or you are trying to introduce the idea of studies to a two-year-old. Never do it on the couch or bed.
Our psyche categorizes these places as corners of rest. Therefore, these places can never induce productivity.
Just buying books for the curriculum is not enough. This will make your child feel very restricted within the academic boundaries.
Try introducing other kinds of books for them. For example, it could be a coloring activity for novels and decorate the room with them. Their syllabus is not their only source of education.
Ambient noise is the new 'it' thing of the generation, and it is also helping younger kids to concentrate.
These are light music and ambient sounds like nature, seaside, or birds chirping. They help to calm the restless mind and focus more. Introduce these to your child when they are studying.
Studying shouldn't be a task of monotony or forced upon someone. Instead, a child should grow somewhat of an interest in their studies from a very young age.
Or else, after a certain point, they will start having an aversion to the idea.
