The man alleged to have been responsible for the attack has been identified as Artyom Kazantsev, 34, a former student at the school. He was armed with two handguns and was wearing a black T-shirt emblazoned with Nazi symbols. He was also wearing a ski mask.
Following the slaughter, Kazantsev apparently killed himself.
Families of the students and teachers and other staff of Izhevsk's School No. 88 rushed to the scene, which was almost instantly populated with law enforcement officers and a swarm of ambulances.

"Checks are being made into his adherence to neo-fascist views and Nazi ideology."
"President Putin deeply mourns the deaths of people, children, at a school where there was a terrorist attack by a person who apparently belongs to a neo-fascist group," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a press conference Monday.
